Therapeutic Yoga is primarily for the people who abstain from taking medicine or any other kind of drug. It gives relief from certain chronic diseases like sinusitis, diabetes, cervical, anxiety, gastrointestinal, pain management, mental imbalance, etc. While some think that every Yoga is a therapy in itself, a few others consider it apt only for people who suffer from a long-term illness.
However, the fact is that therapeutic Yoga is the new era of Yoga, one that has become the talk of the town and a topic of discussion among all the Yoga enthusiasts. Therapeutic Yoga is an adaptation of Yoga that applies yogic principles and methods to heal various human illnesses. It is a perfect balance of multiple forms of Yoga; Restorative Yoga, Gentle Yoga, pranayama, meditation, and asanas. Therapeutic Yoga is both preventive and restorative. It is among the most effective and beneficial therapies for various illnesses and diseases according to many medical studies.
Therapeutic Yoga focuses on specific and individual needs; it is focused on ways to heal and improve physical conditions, illness, or chronic diseases. The regular Yoga is broader in its approach and causes a holistic effect, while, therapeutic Yoga is more target based and works on a specific Ailment.
The approach adopted by therapeutic Yoga is twofold – it prevents and restores. First, it prevents a physical or mental illness from occurring again, and then it restores your body to the same physical vigor and mental strength that you had before you suffered from the disease. There is no set sequence or exclusive steps of therapeutic yoga asanas. Therapeutic Yoga varies based on ailments and different individuals.
